现实 | First things first

Posted by: Ryan O'Riordan

Hi, I'm Ryan and I'm the other guy who will be posting on here. This isn't going to be an introduction to my life and works, but the fact that I'm posting this on a Monday, when the schedule is to post every Sunday, should tell you all you need to know about me.

As I said before, I'm going to try and keep this short because that's how I prefer to write and that's probably how you, dear reader, prefer to read. I'm guessing that if you wanted to be taken on a voyage through the written word, you wouldn't look for a blog post to scratch that particular itch. If anything, this post should serve as an impression of what to expect from me. I'm not on any particular crusade or anything; your wallet is safe where it is. Instead, I'm in all likelihood going to use this blog as a way of writing down any interesting thoughts I've had (and I do have them, no matter what some people might tell you).

My posts usually won't be focused on any one thing for too long. It might be helpful to imagine them as a series of meanders through my mind (which is coincidentally the title of my upcoming debut album. Watch this space!), but instead of being filled with water like the meanders of a river, my posts will be comprised of, y'know, words.

By this point you may be asking yourself: "But Ryan, what's the point of writing down your thoughts without having any particular focus? Surely your posts will descend into meaningless musings on stuff like the weirdly satisfying feeling of using a stapler?"

And that is a very valid question. I'd respond by saying that hopefully you'll be at the very least amused by the things I write. I don't plan to waste your time by being boring. I mean, yeah, we all love a good staple, but I'd like to think I'm capable of writing about something a little bit more gripping. If it's a slow week, then maybe I'll just tell you about stuff like the dreams I've had, like the one where I hosted the Oscars in my house because the venue it was meant to be at had been double-booked. It's a thrilling tale, but sadly one we'll have to go into another day. However, I can reveal that it was an incredible success.

If anyone involved with the Oscars is reading this by the way, and is looking for a host and/or venue for next year, I will probably be available and I'm willing to work for a very reasonable price.

So I suppose I'll wrap up whatever this has been now, and hopefully we can all walk away from it having learnt something. Whoever reads this might feel like you know me a little better and will, hopefully, want to read more of what I write. While I... well to be honest I've learnt nothing really, what with blogging being a bit of a one way street. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy doing this though. I definitely did. So, thanks to whoever made their way through this, and I'll be seeing you the week after next!

I was joking about the album by the way.
